I wanted to write a post of thanks to everyone who supported me in the Top 25 Funny Mom blog contest. I wrote a little thank you note on Facebook, but I realized that wasn’t enough. You deserved more. You deserved a post of your own for all the times you listen to me beg and plead and cajole and lament and despair and rally. Actually, I just wanted to make sure everyone who was kind enough to vote for me knew of my eternal gratitude. I truly do appreciate all your help in keeping me in the race.
And to repay you for all your kindness I promise you this:
I may not have made it into the Top 25, but you guys helped me reach my goal. I am currently the 66th funniest person. And I am proud.
I know I joke, but I am serious when I say that is a big accomplishment for me, and I am really happy about where I finished. I am also seriously struck by how kind, generous and helpful everyone has been through the whole seemingly endless voting process. The thing is I started this blog less than a year ago, and I did it from scratch. I didn’t tell anyone – no family or friends (well a very limited few) – so I didn’t have a base of support. I felt I needed to be completely anonymous in order write freely because if I couldn’t write freely I couldn’t write.
I also wanted to see if I coud really do it. If I could start with nothing and build up an audience who came here solely for my writing. No friends or family who feel obligated to like me and leave complimentary comments. I wanted an objective audience, and I wanted to do it on merit alone. (I did tell my husband, but I didn’t have to worry about him because he doesn’t read my stuff, and he rarely finds me humorous - maybe because I make fun of him but whatever.)
And in a fairly short time I have nearly accomplished what I set out to do. So to me finishing at #66 is like winning the title. I am proud, and I have all of you to thank.
Oh, and I promise to never ever ever bother you again.
Until next year.
You can still vote for me here. If you want. And this one’s easier because all you have to do is click the banner, and you’re done.

Congratulations on your accomplishment. BTW, it wasn’t the begging, you’re funny, damn funny. I only hope my testosterone levels recover soon from the visits to Circles of Moms. Almost felt like a burglar going there.
You have one full year to recover. Another guy friend of mine asked his FB friends to vote for me & said “I know it’s a mom blog, but it’s that good” which I take as high praise.
And thank you.
Congratulations! I just have to apologize for not voting the last 3 days worth. YOU are awesome and you’re a great writer. I am proud and humbled to hang with you. I’ll be ready to ratchet you up to #7 by next year! Oh. I DID vote on Top Mommy Blogs. I used to be there, but no one ever voted for me so I got kicked off. True story.
You were almost dead. I understand. Can’t wait to be #7. You are super funny b/c you’re super dry that’s what makes it funny. You gotta get back on Top Mommy Blogs. All you have to do is vote for yourself once a day & you’ll go straight to the top. That’s what I did. If your acct or whatever isn’t active for so long they take you off.
I voted for you every time I could, even when I discovered phones gave extra votes
You rock!
Please Lord let this comment make it with first visiting the spam folder.
You made it! Woo Hoo! And thanks. The last day I ran around to various libraries so I could give myself & everyone else an extra vote.
Congrats!!! Your begs were hilarious, by the way. Kept me smiling.
Please punch me in the nose if I enter again next year…
You have to. You’re the one to watch!
Congratulations!!! From one motha to another!
Thank you!
I placed 97th. So this means you are 30% funnier than me?
I voted for you every day, and I’m so glad you did so well! Congrats!
Thank you. I voted for you, too, sometimes twice when I learned I could also do it on my phone if I disabled the wifi.
I heard that you could vote once from your phone and once on the computer per 24 hours. I also heard that some people were able to vote every 12 hours. My husband somehow was banned from voting there the last few days. I think I may have placed a little higher if he was able to cast his vote!
It was so awesome to have so many blogs that I know and love in the contest!
Oooh, a little Circle of Mom’s dirt. Maybe that’s how Baby Sideburns got like 10,000 votes. I demand a recount!
One of my friend’s (whose comment is below) called it Circles of Moms & I think that’s a more appropriate name – like circles of hell – b/c the contest was so hellacious & never ending. That’s what I’m calling it from now on.
We should totally start our own contest! No cheating allowed, and no blogs that supposedly have 500,000 followers or whatever. I’m personally not a fan of the blog that won-I tried reading it and just plain didn’t find it funny. But that’s just me…
Huge congrats and so well deserved. And I am with Dani that your daily reminders (begging) was hilarious!!
